CWDM modules create a network topology in which one or more
wavelengths can be added or dropped on demand at specific
locations along a CWDM trunk. The technology enables flexible
and intelligent planning and provisioning of optical services while
at the same time simplifying the deployment and maintenance of
an optical network. Due to its purely passive technology, CWDM
is well prepared for building a fail- safe and maintenance- free
backbone architecture. In FTTx application, CWDM technology
is the preferred method for increasing link capacities of these
optical access networks quickly, simply and at a low cost.
