Chantilly, Virginia – February 2, 2010

Opterna AM, Inc today announced that the Technical Standards Committee of the Rural Utilities Service of the United States Department of Agriculture had accepted a portfolio of AM Networks’ Fiber Management Systems as part of the List of Acceptable Materials. This notification of acceptance will allow carriers who participate in Rural Development Agency’s Telecommunications Program the option to purchase this portfolio of products under the “Buy America” provision.

"We are proud to have attained acceptance of a portfolio of our Fiber Management Systems by the RUS”, said Javad (Jay) Hassan, President and CEO, Opterna AM. “This acceptance will mean that rural carriers can now have access to innovative designs that have already been deployed in some of the largest FTTx projects in the world”. Fiber Management Systems is part of Opterna AM’s product line that is uniquely positioned to address carrier requirements in fast-growing communications markets segments such as FTTX, IPTV, mobile backhaul and telemedicine. The portfolio of products that have been accepted by the Rural Utilities Service will be included in the next revision of the RUS List of Acceptable Materials under section Sj-b.
